2.one A pack and one B pack of Minimal Pairs Poker cards for each pair of Ss
3.an A map and B map for each pair of students for the Pronunciation Role-Play
4.one toy car for each S ( marker,coin,etc.)
5.plastic future boards ( if you need makeshift tables)
Pronunciation Task 1 : Chinese Whispers , Lady from Niger ( 10 minutes )
1.Write the title of the limerick “Lady and the Tiger”on the board.What is a limerick?( funny poerm with 5 lines ) What funny thing do Ss think will happen
in the poem? Have Ss indicate Niger on a world map
( not Nigeral ! )
2.Put Ss into groups of four or five and have them form lines.
3.Give the person at the back of each line a pencil and paper for writing.
( Only the person at the back can write ! )
4.Explain that the name of this activity is “Chinese Whipers”What is a whisper?When do we whisper?
5.Explain that you will take one person from each group out in the hall and read one line to them.These people return to the room and whisper it to the
frist person in their group’s line, who then whispers to the next,ect.The last person writes down what they hear.
( You may want to model this with a proverb first , so they khow the system.Try “Give me a fish below”
6.Take one person from each group and begin.
OPTION : Assign number to the members of each group and call the number of the people that you want to come out in the hall or write.( OK,this time,write and 2’s come out in the hall with me! ) This allows everyone to experience the activity at a different stage in the information-transfer process.
